This couple had an overgrown sloping front yard and a backyard that was suitable for the dogs, but not the humans. Thinned existing plants in front yard, adding groupings of species consisting of varying colors and shapes to provide contrast. Re-imagined backyard in modern Japanese style with new covered deck off garage. Structural plantings around back and off of fence, providing dogs areas to patrol. All plantings dog safe.

Delany Acres is just that, acres. The task at hand was to take a small portion of the property and transform it into a space for entertaining and also for an aging parent. Using organic shapes for the planting beds and seating areas, the landscape design flows seamlessly into the natural surroundings.

Small stucco spanish-style house with small, partially shady front yard and a hot, harsh back yard, owned by a mid-century modern enthusiast. Based design around use of succulents that, with the proper care, are tolerant of Portland's climate and are in line with both Southwestern and MCM styles. Replaced back yard with new, but reduced-size, kidney-shaped lawn. Placed a large, shady silk tree at the southwest corner to provide cooling shade in summer.
